Honesty

I'm going to be honest, I haven't put effort into this blog in a few weeks, trying to finish high school while working part time and trying to stay healthy and fit, all while planning a vacation isn't easy, and to be honest I haven't done much in the realm of creative other than cook, I've been a cooking up a storm!
I want to get back into this creative stuff, but I want to change directions, I want to be a little more insightful and thoughtful, and post more about food, I love food, i don't know how many people have even read these blogs or miss them at all, but for me it's important to continue with them because I like to look back and see what I was like and what I've learned, what I've done.

Day XXXIV Ravioli!!!

I decided to make ravioli, using this recipe and here is how I did it and the filling I made for it.

 Filling recipe

2 sticks celery
1/2 cup onions
2 tomatoes roasted with salt and pepper
1 zucchini, raw

I started out by making the dough, then while it was resting I started on the filling.

Cook the tomatoes on a broiling pan so they dry our nicely P.S Spray the pan with PAM or oil it before putting the tomatoes on.

season with salt and pepper

after they are cooked they should be like this.

next cook the onions and celery in olive oil for a few minutes

Throw it all in the food processor, including the zucchini

You dough should be rested by now, rip off little balls about this size until you have a bunch of them.

roll them using a glass jar (a rolling pin works too but I like this way better)

roll out 2 circles and put the filling on one

place the other piece on top and press down sides with a fork.  put them in a bowl to put in the fridge if you're not eating them right away

I had extra left over so I rolled it out and cut it into strips

Cook it for about  10 minute in boiling water, or until tender

I served it with sauteed spinach and tomato soup

NOTE* If you are going to refrigerate these, they WILL go bad in a few days, I suggested eating them within 1-3 days of making them, if not the day of.

Day XXXVIII 4-16-11

For returning I thought I'd show you my suitcase chair.

I made it from an old suit case from the closet, the cushion is made from gold pillow shams and stuffing.

Back tomorrow

I haven't been on here, my life is like a ADD kid at disney land right now, I am doing so much I don't even know what's going on, these last 5ish weeks have gone by so fast, I documented a bunch of creative things, I need to edit photo's and get them up, the flash on my camera is having issues so I need to fix it before I can take pictures that are not in the sun..

To sum up some stuff, I need to finish my project I previewed a few days ago, photo my other thing, and edit a bunch of photos from today, tomorrow I have stuff planned.

Love...

Day XXXI 4-7-11 Progress

I would show you what I'm working on for the next big thing, but I hate when people put up teaser posts so I won't, you'll just have to wait, I will tell you it involves gold pillow shams though. :)
That is the explanation for no creative thing to day, except pillow sham shopping.

Days XXIX and XXX Technicalities

Well, I know I didn't post yesterday and I'm not sure why, I was going to do something and fell asleep, oops.
Today I did two things, the first is in honor of the day with out shoes (yesterday) if you don't know what the he-man I'm talking about, click here.
I wanted to convey that poverty can strike any part of the world, any culture, and any race.

The second thing is candle holders, (I think) that I made out of old chandelier balls from the old one, (we replaced it a few days ago) I painted than and made it like a stained glass thing, there's alo a pic of the chandelier before, ugly.

Day XXIII 4-4-11 Flowers

Today I was at my friends house and she found this blog about how to make a flower key holder, so that's what I did today, plus make yummy dinner and bread. ;)

Days XXI & XXII Relaxing and thinking.

I took Saturday as a sabbatical, from life. Now looking back I really forget what I did saturday......
except a few things like  buying paper lanterns...
Which upsets me, I don't want to have days where my life is so insignificant that I don't even remember it.
I want to try to do something meaningful, something worth remembering.
Those very thoughts are what inspired the photo on Sunday... "Thinking as if the box weren't even there"

Day XX 4-1-11 Art show day!

No pictures today, but tomorrow is a new day and it will bring creative.
The art show was awesome, many people were there and I got a lot of complements on the odd and different style of my photos, not candid and portrait, but not landscapes and nature, everyone said they were very different and cool.
I'll have some creative stuff up soon, but for now here is a photo from the show, a favorite.

Day XVII 3-29-11 Poetry

SOULS

Sould

SOULS
Some one could save us and someone could shake us,
but not before we melt.
And someone is helping and it’s saving us from ourselves.
And is there a connection, between you and I?
Two weightless faceless soulless servants?
And in the darkness we end up broken, and in the light we try to hide,
behind our eyes.
Am I just another faceless soul?
Do I have a choice?
Crack open your bleeding lips,
just let it out and cry.
And faceless no more,
you don’t have a reason to run,
so let your voice scream loud.
And is there a connection for two soulless servants?
Is there a connection that makes us alive.
Make our souls arrive.

Day XVI 3-28-11 Hipstamatic collage

Day XV 3-27-11 Hipstamatic

Total re-blog...... The B-Roll posted about how he created his own " hipstamatic prints in photos shop rather than using his iPhone (blog HERE) and I though I'd try it because I seem to be lacking in iPhones anyway.
I threw a twist on it and just used a slightly rounded vignette (an idea I stole from my sister)  rather than the grunge border the B-roll used.

I think I'll use one of these photos for my bio that I have to write for the art show... by tomorrow!

Day XII 3-24-11 Pancakes

So busy today, worked all day.
Well I made Norwegian pancakes, that's the most creative this I guess, I need to do more, just really busy with work and art show.

http://www.createtv.com/CreateProgram.nsf/vRecipes/Norwegian%20Pancakes

In Scandinavian cuisine pancakes are used both as savory dishes and as desserts. Here the pancakes are served with blueberries or strawberries and makes a lovely dessert.

Serves 2 to 4.

Ingredients:
2/3 cup (1.5dl) all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1½ cups (3.5dl) whole milk
1 tablespoon sugar or honey, plus more for serving
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus butter for cooking

Directions:
Combine the flour and salt in a medium bowl. Add the eggs, milk, and sugar, stirring with a fork until you have a light batter; make sure there are no lumps. Stir in the melted butter. Let rest for 30 minutes.

Heat 2 teaspoons butter over medium heat in a cast-iron or other heavy skillet. Add 1/3 cup of the batter and immediately tilt the skillet so that the batter spreads out evenly. Cook for approximately 3 minutes, until the batter has set on top, then flip, using a spatula. Cook for 2 minutes, then transfer to a plate. Repeat, stacking the cooked pancakes, until you have used all the batter.

Serve the pancakes warm with berries and sugar, or cheese and ham.

Day XI 3-23-11 Art show

So no extremely creative thing today, so drained, I was busy getting pictures for the art show ready today and I still have SO much to do!!!
I'll keep you posted and let you know when the show opens but here's a peek at one of the photos in the show.

22 March 2011

Day X 3-22-11 Drawing

So I've been running on nothing but sugar and caffeine for the last 27  hours, I stayed up all night (not purposely) and ended up watching Pretty Little Liars (my newest accidental obsession) and that's the inspiration for the first drawing :)

Day IX 3-21-11 MEH

Felt sick today, tried to draw, nothing amazing but a tree and some bats.
Promising much better tomorrow.

20 March 2011

Day VIII 3-20-11 Boxes

This, makes me think of Brooklyn, though I have never been there.
My favorite book of all time is "A Tree Grows In  Brooklyn" By Betty Smith,
The imagery in her book makes you feel like you are there, and tonight I wasn't feeling ultra creative,
so I grabbed a pastel and just started drawing and this is what it ended up being.

Day VII 3-19-11 Feathers

I'm late.............
Internet wasn't working for like 12 hours or something.
Anyhow I put feather extensions in Joy's hair for this creative thing :)
